Our Vision for the Future
Improved Patient Access and Satisfaction
The expanded Emergency Department will increase the number of rooms and triage space, allowing quicker patient care and higher satisfaction.
Increased Privacy
Each room, including the family consult room, will be completely private and spacious so family members can remain with their loved ones.
Enhanced Care for Behavioral Health Patients
Nearly 10% of Emergency Department patients are admitted for behavioral health concerns, and that number continues to grow. The new department will include a dedicated, safe, and private space built specifically for these patients.
Emergency Employer of Choice
The new Emergency Department will help Lakes Regional Healthcare recruit and retain top talent while providing improved security and expanded virtual monitoring to support both staff and patients.
Expanded Technology
eER technology, currently available only in the trauma room, will be utilized in all patient rooms within the department. The technology links our providers to emergency/trauma-
trained physicians at a central hub at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls 24/7, allowing for a second opinion regarding the patient’s status and treatment plan as well as seamless transfers if the patient must be transferred to a higher level of care.
