In acknowledgement of April 20 through 26 as National Lab Week, Lakes Regional Healthcare (LRH) is recognizing the contributions the laboratory staff devotes to their patients’ care.
According to LRH Vice President of Ancillary and Community Services Nate McCormick, “The laboratory team plays a key part in LRH’s continuum of care. With their efforts, patients’ illnesses or risk factors for illnesses can be identified, and the appropriate care or treatment can be provided.”
Using leading technology and instrumentation, laboratory professionals help detect unknown health problems and aid in the diagnosis of existing conditions by giving accurate, timely test results. Results of laboratory tests often identify the presence of disease in its earliest stages when the possibilities of a cure are greatest and when treatment is least costly.
“We are proud of the work we do,” said LRH Director of Laboratory Services Jim Carle. “We have to be painstakingly meticulous in performing our jobs to provide dependable answers to patients’ physicians.”
Lakes Regional Healthcare medical laboratory professionals work in a variety of areas, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, and immunology.
