Respiratory Therapy

Our goal for you when you receive respiratory therapy is to be able to breathe well. Respiratory therapy at Lakes Regional Healthcare is offered to pediatric and adult inpatients, outpatients, and through our Home Care and Hospice services.

Respiratory therapy can be used to help patients with conditions, diseases, infections, or viruses of the cardiopulmonary system, such as:

  • COPD
  • Asthma
  • Emphysema
  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia

When you come in for respiratory therapy, you receive a thorough assessment by one of our respiratory therapists. They will assess your breathing abilities and difficulties and then implement appropriate goals and methods to improve your breathing.

Your treatment plan may include:

  • Administering nebulizer or inhaler medications
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Stress tests
  • Oximetry studies
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Sleep studies
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Ventilator support

To schedule an appointment with a respiratory therapist, please talk with your healthcare provider.
